HDCP Committee

Dear Sleepy Hollow Members
Welcome to the 2022 golf season at Sleepy Hollow.

The Handicap Committee will be made up of the following members for 2022…Tom Worsley (Chairperson), Sharon Gibbs (Co-Chair), Susan Rudin, Florence Marquis, Al Ruebottom and we are pleased to extend a welcome Mike Rinne who will be joining us. Kurt Paisley is also an ex officio member of the committee.

The mandate of the Handicap Committee is to attempt to ensure the integrity of the handicaps of all our members and that we all comply with the requirements of the World Handicap System.

In order to achieve the above mandate, there are two main requirements that we must ask of our members,

  1. Players must strive to make the best possible score on every hole played, and
Players must post the score of all games that are played under the rules of golf
  2. Scores should be posted before midnight on the day of play to ensure your handicap is current and it is also recommended that the scores be posted hole by hole. Posting hole by hole will calculate a more accurate handicap index and it also assists the club in the rating of the holes.

In late Spring, the committee will review the postings of all members and reminders may be sent out to those who are not posting scores regularly.

In addition, prior to certain club events, all the entrant’s handicap postings will be reviewed to ensure they are current. Handicaps that are not current could result in the suspension of a player’s handicap. A player with a suspended handicap would play that tournament with a Zero handicap.

Also, the purpose of the Handicap Committee is to communicate with the membership on any issues of concern and will assist in all matters that relate to the World Handicap System. Please feel free to reach out to any member of the committee should you have any questions or concerns.

We look forward to another great season at Sleepy Hollow.
